Lets get together like Al Green

IMG_4326

Last week some of us at NCSDO decided to crash Red Maples. We had no reservation on a Saturday night–in the heart of Baltimore–on a busy Holiday weekend. All we knew was to show up looking sexy and just enjoy our collective moment. The whole night was dyn-o-mite.

I love the fact that 33% of my waking hour is spend with working with awesome people who very talented, smart, witty, and knows when to down and dorky. It is purely kick-ass to call everyone at NCSDO my co-workers and friends. I love collaborating and getting tipsy with these peeps. :]

I only meant to bless you

Mathew Swanson and Kato

Here is how the story goes

* Beloved friends came by the office whom I haven’t seen in a while.
* Kato sneezes
* I said “Bless you”.
* Kato cries as if I stole his college education fund.
* I got scolded by Matthew “What are you telling my kids. Don’t say that”.
* I say “Gesundheit?”.
* Kato cries more

I fail at baby sneeze.

Sunday afternoon in Autumn

Warm autumn day is like a good drink at happy hour, feels so good. To enjoy the day we went out for a little walk and had a nice sunday brunch at Marie Louis. Also today I walked around with my camera for the first time in a few weeks. I have not done it in a while–been to busy with work (full time and freelance). Everything felt so good this afternoon.

Afternoon with Rolled Paper

Very simple story. One afternoon Chungwon and I met up with my sister, her hubby, and my nephew Vincent for lunch. The day before we ran out of toilet paper (from now it will be referred as “Rolled Paper”) so we bought a whole pack of it. After lunch Vincent was so eager to carry the Rolled Paper by himself. I took it out of the bag and let him have it–thus started the journey. All the other adults were embarrassed by the idea, but it just seemed like a fun fresh idea to publicly carry a Rolled Paper around the city.

We walked around all over Harbor East and Federal Hill with Rolled Paper, taking pictures at various points. Of course people stared at us, some whispered of “is that toilet paper?”, some stared longer than others, but it was just too much fun. Later we all got into the action and thought nothing of it.

Kids find pure happiness:) in simple things. We adults tends to complex and twist the idea of happiness where it becomes too rigid an unobtainable. We need to learn from our kids that sometimes all we need is a simple afternoon with Rolled Paper.

Around Baltimore

Pausing Time

I captured these moments around May this year during my lunch break around downtown Baltimore. I try to get out as much as I can with my camera, however lately it has been tough: work, freelance work, and being tired. Hopefully as work lighten up I will have more free time to chase after moments around the city.

As I was cleaning I noticed…

I have way too much photos on my laptop–5GB left. Disk space is very affordable these days. Perhaps I can just buy a HD and copy them over rather then the hassle of going through each file. However why keep unwanted files? As of this moment I have 14k+ files which occupies 54.4GB. Lets see how much I “really” need.

Fortuitously along the way I have been stumbling onto photos I forgot about. I actually enjoyed most of them. I will be posting some of the photos I find while cleaning.

My friend Sang Han at Inner Harbor. The halo was created by a car that was parked for a split second. Right after the shot the car moved away, thus the moment.

Some walk their dog, I walk my camera

When time permits I love to take my camera for walk around Baltimore. The city has so many hidden nooks and crannies, various angles and lightings I feel like a tourist every time. Sometimes I’m looking way up with my mouth wide open, looking way down as if I’m looking for a quarter, or simply looking straight like I have x-ray vision. No matter which way, I find the whole process of walking my camera very cathartic and adventurous. What better way enjoy time.

I noticed the city doesn’t reveal itself to oneself. Rather one have to reveal itself to the city–normality is not how it appears but how one assimilate the given data. Only then will the sublime creep out of the ordinary.

Below are photos captured in May. Whenever I see things I make up micro stories about them to entertain myself. It is somewhat loco, but then again I am walking my camera.

T.Raff

I had a blast with T.Raff (Senior Art Director at NCSDO) during a photo session we had this week. I used a white cardboard as a reflector upon the melting west sun. She is the type of model I enjoy working with. She had a good arsenal of expressions, flowed “fluiditcally” with the surrounding, and really got into the whole thing.

Courtney L.

Currently my company,NCSDO, is working on a new version of our website. I have been in charge of photographing the staff for our new staff page. This is Courtney L., one of the Art Directors at NCSDO. As we were outside the building taking some photographs for her page this moment just strolled by and click. Something about this photograph really draws me in. Perhaps it is a combination of the ricochet color, the unconscious flirtatious expression, and the slight touch of breeze.

It is so awesome to work with such photogenic people.
