Lets get together like Al Green

IMG_4326

Last week some of us at NCSDO decided to crash Red Maples. We had no reservation on a Saturday night–in the heart of Baltimore–on a busy Holiday weekend. All we knew was to show up looking sexy and just enjoy our collective moment. The whole night was dyn-o-mite.

I love the fact that 33% of my waking hour is spend with working with awesome people who very talented, smart, witty, and knows when to down and dorky. It is purely kick-ass to call everyone at NCSDO my co-workers and friends. I love collaborating and getting tipsy with these peeps. :]

I only meant to bless you

Mathew Swanson and Kato

Here is how the story goes

* Beloved friends came by the office whom I haven’t seen in a while.
* Kato sneezes
* I said “Bless you”.
* Kato cries as if I stole his college education fund.
* I got scolded by Matthew “What are you telling my kids. Don’t say that”.
* I say “Gesundheit?”.
* Kato cries more

I fail at baby sneeze.

T.Raff

I had a blast with T.Raff (Senior Art Director at NCSDO) during a photo session we had this week. I used a white cardboard as a reflector upon the melting west sun. She is the type of model I enjoy working with. She had a good arsenal of expressions, flowed “fluiditcally” with the surrounding, and really got into the whole thing.

Play with IR Filter

The video above is for our ol’ co-worker J.Swartz, it was her last day at the Firehouse. It was awesome working with you, joking around with you, and learning from you. May the wind gently guide your sail wherever you go. Aloha until we meet again.

Last week I just got the B+W 82 mm 099 Infrared Glass Filter for my 7D. I was inspired by my friend Dai as he mentioned about IR photography. As we were talking I recalled a few IR film photography I saw in high school. Back then I was really drawn into it but faded due to being a high schooler. This time I wanted to explore this option.

Thus far the looks has been interesting and yet eery, but the experience has been playful. My co-workers call this the “Zombie Filter”. I tweaked my setting on 7D (custom white balance and picture style setting), to make it more dramatic. Overall I didn’t get the IR effect (foliage being white)* I was looking for, but the joy of re-approaching the same subject with a different view has been more than fun. I look forward to doing more shots with this.

* I am thinking of getting the BW IR filter that will require a tripod for most shots. Perhaps this might get the result I was thinking of.

Courtney L.

Currently my company,NCSDO, is working on a new version of our website. I have been in charge of photographing the staff for our new staff page. This is Courtney L., one of the Art Directors at NCSDO. As we were outside the building taking some photographs for her page this moment just strolled by and click. Something about this photograph really draws me in. Perhaps it is a combination of the ricochet color, the unconscious flirtatious expression, and the slight touch of breeze.

It is so awesome to work with such photogenic people.

Mini-Clips of Still Motion

These are mini clips of some still motion I have been experimenting lately with my friends.

One day a co-worker asked me to photograph him in our office. Every time I step out of the room for a second I hear click, click, click behind me. These are collection of photos he took of himself. He went loco in front of the camera.

Music: I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones

We went to Calvert Cliff one day to look for fossils and shark tooth–I have this things for wearing claw like object as a necklace. The sun was welcoming and the water was just right. As we were leaving there was this tactile glow on her I had to capture. Instead of finding tooth or fossil I got some nice shots of CeeDubs.

Music: Coastal Break by Lusine

After doing a photo session for two hours we had some beer and wings afterwards. As we were crawled out of the pub I decided to get some more photographs of him on the streets. I only wish we had more cars in the background–preferably a Delorean going at 88mph.

Music: Face to Face by Daft Punk
